| Summary | Potamochoerus larvatus est la seule espèce d'ongulé sauvage de Madagascar. Elle provient d'Afrique. Deux sous-espèces sont reconnues : P. l. hova et P. l. larvatus. Les caractères morphologiques de l'espèce sont présentées. L'animal se rencontre dans toute l'île, il occasionne d'importants dégats dans les terrains de culture et est chassé par les hommes. Des informations sur son mode de vie, sa reproduction, son hybridation avec les porcs domestiques et sur les virus qu'il transmet sont rapportées. |
